Penn Ohio Working Dog Club
Mission Statement

We, the founding members of Penn Ohio Working Dog Club, have written this mission statement as declaration of our goals and objectives. Its purpose is not only to inform potential new members of our ideology, but also as a reference point for all of us to look back to. A reminder to ourselves as to why it was started in the hopes of keeping us on a path towards the fulfillment of our goals. Our goals and objectives are respectfully as follows:

To come together in friendship to train, title, and promote working dogs in the sport of Schutzhund , police work, or other services that promotes “the working dog.”

We believe that our most important goal is the fun and enjoyment we can experience from each other and from our dogs, for without this as the mechanism that steers our ship, it will become ever more difficult to maintain harmony, the well being of each of us, and the well being of our dogs.

It is our belief that each individual’s dog or dogs are equally important regardless of breed, pedigree, ability, appearance, or individual goals.

We believe that the club is an important entity in and of itself. It is the vehicle that allows us to come together, to train our dogs and enjoy each other’s fellowship. The club itself, must be given the highest priority, over and above any individual, so as to provide opportunity for continued endeavors. It must be nurtured so as to give it longevity. The work required to maintain it should not be overlooked and the responsibility for that work be given to all.

It is our goal to train our dogs in a fair, humane, and sportsmanlike manner. To promote the breeding of titled dogs, with the primary goal of that breeding being healthy puppies with working ability, sound nerves, and good temperament.


It is important to note that this is our club’s mission. New members should especially take note as to not misunderstand their place. We understand that with growth, it will prove ever more difficult for all to agree with these principals and ideals. We have shown our tolerance for goals different than our own by welcoming new members into our club. It is imperative for new members whose ideals and agendas differ, to ask themselves if and how they can coexist with our beliefs. We are not asking you to change yours, only respect ours.
